Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
Nigerians are the most maltreated nationals on the internet. Granted the fact
that quite a few Nigerians have chosen to perpetrate dubious activities online, it
however does not warrant the magnitude of denigration we Nigerians are
subjected to in a bid to do business online.
While I do not intend to justify these shameful activities by this infinitesimal
portion of Nigerian net users, I wish to state that in my 7 years of online
experience, I have never come across so many scammers from one country as
India and Philippines. Their activities ranges from hacking into any hackable
online account, like e-gold, paypal, stompay, moneybookers, ebullion etc to
credit cards number extraction and identity theft. While these are the most
dreadful online fraud and difficult to deal with, it however amazes me why they
don’t make as much headlines as the petty thieving by Nigerians. Whereas they
have not been banned by online merchants; Paypal has banned Nigerians and
now Goldlynk. These are the things that I feel are unfair.
For 3 years, I was frustrated by this isolation despite my genuine hope of doing
legitimate business online. But now, fortunately, I have been able to go around
all this obstacles while most Nigerians decided to resign to their fate. After 4
years of operating a Paypal account and at the same time listening to fellow
Nigerians lament about their inability to have a reliable means of making online
payment, I am now ready to solve these problems from my own personal
experience.
This e-book therefore, contains home grown solutions to the Paypal question.
How does a Nigerian Own and operate a Paypal account successfully?
Buy purchasing this e-book, you have just taken a step towards actualizing your
online dreams. This may be your rate limiting step. So now that you own this
book, I’d like to say congratulations as you have just achieved a fit that took me
years to achieve. You are a genius!
All you need to do now is read this book and do not overlook any of my
instructions. If you do, you’ll become a frog. You will wish you were never born.
I know a couple of Nigerians who have lost money by taking just one single
wrong step.
Haven being perennially frustrated by paypal, I believe you now must hate
paypal as much as I do. I had initially thought only I hated paypal that much,
but in my search for information to make this e-book rich enough for you, I
came across several websites dedicated to fight Paypal. An example is this
forum, www.paypalsucks.com .There are several others. I believe it is against
this backdrop that Google is coming up with its alternative to paypal ‘Gbuy’.
Many have described Gbuy as a ‘paypal killer’. How successful this will be is yet
to be seen. So for now, no matter how much we both hate Paypal, the truth
remains that we need them more than they need us and it is the only alternative
to it’s self for now. So the options for you are
A. Paypal
B. Paypal
C. Paypal
D. Paypal
Choose one!

Chapter 2
What is a Paypal Account?
I have come to regard paypal as an enemy and like the saying goes, never
underestimate your enemy. Try to know as much as you can about him. It is by
this, you’ll know how to solve the problems posed by it.
So who is Mr. Paypal? Paypal is one of the several online payment systems. It
allows you to send money to ‘anybody’ (Except Nigerians) with an email. So they
claim.
Paypal gives you the option of linking your Bank account or credit card to your
online account for purpose of funding and withdrawal of funds.
To fund, you need to wire money from your bank account into your paypal
account. Paypal charges commission for all these services and to withdraw,
paypal can send you a check which is paid into your bank account.
You can also link your credit card to your paypal account and spend from there
directly. However these options are not available to Nigerians.
In subsequent chapters of this e-book, I will tell you how to fund and withdraw
money from your paypal account as a Nigerian in Nigeria. It’s just a simple trick
that even Paypal can not comprehend.
Paypal Stores
This is a page in the paypal site that shows you website where you can spend
your Paypal money. These sites are in the thousands. Thousands of websites
accepting Paypal are however not listed here.
Types of Paypal accounts
Paypal has three types of account all varying in features and capacity.
A personal Account, Premier Account and Business account. I will further
expatiate on the various types of account and their specifications in a later
chapter.
Chapter 3
Reason Why You Should Own A Paypal Account
You will need it for Online Businesses:
In case you don’t realize how important this e-book is, I have dedicated this
whole chapter to educate you on this. I will tell you about thing s you have never
thought you can need a paypal account for.
Apart from a credit card, Paypal is the only online merchant that allows
automatic payment. That is if you are a very busy person, or you are involved in
so many things online, you do not have to keep a schedule for renewing your
subscription. You can configure your paypal account to do that for you and it
automatically pays your subscription as and when due. This saves you the
embarrassment of having to later find out that your web hosting, domain name,
membership subscription, content provider subscription has expired.
You need a paypal account because; you will hardly lose money to fraudulent
sellers who promise what they do not possess. Therefore, if you receive a
product and it falls below your expectation, you can ask for a refund and if the
seller refuses, you can open a dispute and at the end get your money back.
Isn’t that amazing? This is called chargeback.
Online Surveys
You will need a paypal account if you are involved in online surveys. Now don’t
say that’s not necessary as I know a couple of guys making up to $1000 monthly
from online surveys and receiving their earnings by paypal.
Most of these survey companies prefer to pay with paypal and so you can not
have a piece of this cake if you do not own a paypal account.
Affiliate Programmes
If you want to join an affiliate program, owning a Paypal account becomes very
necessary. Though you can receive you earnings by check also, you know what
our local banks will demand of you before you can own one. So for newbies who
are just starting off, owning a paypal account will be a better option.
To do Business on EBay
Have you ever dreamt of taking part in the world’s biggest online auction site
where you can buy and sell at unbelievable prices? EBay is owned by the owners
of paypal and they have made paypal the preferred payment option on this site.
Though you can also pay with credit cards, the preferred option remains paypal.
It is the preferred online Payment Merchant
For me the most important reason why you should own a paypal account is the
fact that, over 60% of websites will accept paypal. I think it is cheap thinking to
resort to do business with the remaining 40% only. If you want to derive
maximum utility from the internet, you should not have yourself limited by your
geographical location. Not even your nationality should be a snag.
Be in Control.
It is intelligent to be in charge of your destiny. Stop patronizing people who keep
asking for outrageous amounts to help you make online payments.
Why Nigerians got Banned
Now how and why Nigerians were even banned from paypal in the first place?
You need to know this so that you will avoid getting involved in those things if
you want to keep your account. They say you should not always make mistakes
to learn but learn from the mistakes of others.
In those days when Nigeria had not yet become a pariah country on the internet,
Nigerians (some) who used Paypal abused the system. They order for goods and
after receiving these goods, they open a dispute claiming the goods have not
been received and in many cases they win and their money is refunded.
This was very much the case on EBay and it didn’t take too much time to figure
out that the perpetrators of this similar cases were mostly Nigerian and so the
ban.
Of course being an information super highway, other online merchants didn’t
have to wait for further confirmation before following the paypal footstep and so
went the vicious circle. Now this is what you as a paypal account owner must
avoid doing else you find yourself having the same problem this people had.
The next few chapters will tell you all that you need to know in order to open,
verify, fund, withdraw cash from your paypal account right here from Nigeria. So
be very attentive….
